Mohammad Reza Bahraman made the remarks in an interview with the news website of Iran Chamber of Commerce on the sidelines of Iran Conmine Exhibition 2026, highlighting the potential of Iranian companies to provide mining-related technical and engineering services to foreign markets. He said Iran’s mining capabilities extended beyond its considerable mineral reserves to include expertise and technological achievements in mineral processing, which could serve as a basis for expanding exports of engineering services to other countries. Activating this potential would open new opportunities for economic cooperation and help Iranian companies gain a stronger foothold in regional and international markets, Bahraman said. He described Iran Conmine as an important platform for showcasing the country’s mining capabilities, assessing industry developments and identifying investment and business opportunities. Mining activities span the entire value chain, from exploration and workforce training to mineral processing and marketing, he said, adding that the exhibition provided an opportunity to examine challenges and requirements at each stage. Despite economic difficulties and restrictions resulting from sanctions, this year’s exhibition had attracted strong participation, Bahraman said, noting that around 140 major companies were taking part. Companies from Japan, Russia and China were also attending, while visitors from various countries and representatives of several foreign embassies had toured the exhibition, he added. Bahraman, who also heads Iran’s Mining House, said the international participation reflected foreign interest in the country’s mining potential and technological capabilities. He said discussions held on the sidelines of the exhibition covered various mining activities, including gold, and could help identify foreign partners’ needs and new areas of cooperation, particularly with neighboring countries. Bahraman expressed hope that the event would further promote Iran’s mining expertise, expand international business ties and help open new export markets, particularly for the country’s technical and engineering services.
