The memorandum of understanding was signed between the Iran-Georgia Joint Chamber of Commerce and Alexander Sanders, who is responsible for setting up the Georgia-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce. The agreement was reached following a meeting between the Iranian chamber’s board of directors and Sanders and his delegation, during which participants discussed opportunities for economic cooperation and ways to expand bilateral trade relations. Fatemeh Moghimi, head of the Iran-Georgia Joint Chamber of Commerce, said the establishment of the new chamber in Tbilisi was a key focus of the discussions and that preliminary agreements had been reached before the parties signed the relevant contract. The new chamber is intended to facilitate business contacts, follow up on bilateral agreements and joint initiatives, and support Iranian and Georgian economic operators. It is also expected to provide a platform for more direct interaction between companies and business representatives from the two countries. The agreement also provides for holding business meetings involving economic operators to identify and develop opportunities for cooperation.
