The annual meetings of the BRICS Business Council working groups commenced today, September 10, 2026, in New Delhi, India, with representatives from the Tehran Chamber delegation in attendance.
Faryal Mostofi, Vice President of the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, participated in the BRICS Business Council’s Trade and Investment Working Group meeting alongside representatives from other BRICS member nations, discussing strategies to expand trade and investment among members. Key topics of discussion included strengthening supply chain resilience, harmonizing trade regulations, expanding digital trade, and developing joint investments.
At the conclusion of the meeting, five strategies were put forward as proposals by the Trade and Investment Working Group to enhance cooperation among member countries, as follows:
1. Strengthening BRICS supply chain resilience: Formulating a common framework, expanding trade in national currencies, bolstering domestic financial mechanisms, mutually recognizing authorized economic operators, and increasing the participation of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
2. Harmonizing global trade regulations: Formulating coordinated positions within multilateral organizations, actively participating in international standardization bodies, and focusing on strategic sectors of BRICS economies.
3. Promoting open, rule-based trade: Emphasizing multilateralism, supporting meaningful World Trade Organization (WTO) reforms, and reducing regulatory disparities through structured dialogues and mutual recognition agreements.
4. Developing digital trade infrastructure: Strengthening infrastructure, exchanging national experiences, digitizing trade processes in alignment with individual countries' readiness levels, and examining cross-border digital public infrastructure. 5. Strengthening intra-BRICS investment cooperation: Establishing an investment development framework, facilitating technological collaboration, improving the investment climate, and prioritizing joint projects in the fields of technology, energy, and critical minerals.
A business delegation from the Tehran Chamber—led by Faryal Mostofi and including board members Shahab Javanmardi and Abbas Argon, Maziar Nourbakhsh (Chair of the Commission on Transformation, Innovation, and Productivity), and Maryam Tajabadi (Vice-Chair of the Health Economy Commission), and accompanied by Majid Ghasemi (Head of the Iranian Chapter of the BRICS Business Council)—has traveled to New Delhi.
